How to back up your Hostiko website (and restore from backup)

Hostiko makes automatic daily backups of every shared hosting account, retained for 7 days (longer on bigger plans). You can also create on-demand backups before risky changes.

Restore from an automatic backup

1. Log into your client dashboard.
2. Find your service → click "Backups".
3. Pick a date from the last 7 days → click "Restore".
4. Confirm. Restore takes 5-20 minutes depending on size.

Create an on-demand backup before a big change

1. DirectAdmin → "Create/Restore Backups".
2. Select what to back up (Home Directory, Databases, Email).
3. Click "Create Backup". It saves to your account.
4. Optionally download via File Manager to keep an off-site copy.

Off-site backup automation (for advanced users)

For critical sites, we recommend an off-site backup service like BackupBuddy, UpdraftPlus (WordPress), or rsync to a remote VPS. Daily on-host backups protect against data loss; off-site backups protect against catastrophic provider failure.
