Step-by-step
- Log into DirectAdmin.
- Find Softaculous Apps Installer (usually under "Advanced Features").
- Search for "WordPress" → click Install Now.
- Pick your domain from the dropdown.
- Leave the "In Directory" field empty if you want WordPress at the root (recommended). Type blog if you want it at yourdomain.co.ke/blog.
- Fill in: Site Name, Site Description, Admin Username, Admin Password, Admin Email.
- Click Install. Takes ~30 seconds.
After install
Your WordPress admin is at yourdomain.co.ke/wp-admin. Log in with the credentials you set above.
First-day recommendations
- Install the LiteSpeed Cache plugin — auto-included with our LiteSpeed servers. Makes WordPress 5–10× faster.
- Update permalinks — Settings → Permalinks → "Post name". Better for SEO than the default.
- Delete the default theme & plugins you're not using.
- Set a strong admin password and enable 2FA via a security plugin like Wordfence or iThemes Security.
